Just ahead of the Los Angeles Auto Show, BMW has given images of their second-generation BMW X5 M and X6 M. Both will still have their 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8s, though power has increased from 555 to 567 horsepower, and torque from 500 lb-ft to 553 lb-ft. The BMW M’s eight-speed Steptronic transmission replaces the duo’s old six-speed automatic, channeling power to an xDrive all-wheel-drive system that can variably shuffle up to 100 percent power to either axle. Both the X5 M and X6 M achieve 60 miles per hour in just four seconds. Additional performance benefits include an M Servotronic steering system, sport-tuned suspension that reduces the ride height by 10mm, and a high-performance brake system, as well as a Dynamic Damper Control system with three different modes: Comfort, Sport and Sport+
