Ferrari has just revealed their latest masterpiece, coming in the form of the F12tdf. Designed to pay homage to the Tour de France, the legendary endurance race dominated by Ferrari in the 1950s and 60s (with four of those crowns thanks to the 1956 250 GT Berlinetta). Only 799 units will be produced, each packed with improvements to the engine, aerodynamics, and vehicle dynamics based on the F12 Berlinetta and its deep family lineage. At its heart, there sits a V12 6262cc engine, powerful enough to push out an extra 40 HP over the standard F12 along with 521 lb-ft of torque, all controlled with an updated F1 DCT gearbox that delivers 30% faster upshifts and 40% faster downshifts. As a result of the engine tweaks and enough carbon fiber to drop overall weight by 242 pounds, the Ferrari F12tdf can hit 62mph from a deadstart in 2.9 seconds before topping off at 211 mph. Improvement gains are also thanks to almost 100% increase in aerodynamic efficiency compared to the standard F12, partly due to the new rear diffuser, spoiler, and resculpted body. There’s no word on pricing yet, but you can bet your britches that it will be significantly more expensive than the F12 Berlinetta.
